Music Director's Page

Karen Phillips joined us at the start of September 2015.

Here's a short note from Karen to give you a little background.

Choral music has always been Karen’s passion, probably dating back to her studies in this specialised area with Andrew Parrott and Dame Emma Kirkby during her time at Reading University. She has been the Director of Music for fourteen years at Farnborough Hill, a girls’ catholic secondary school, and also directed a lively church choir of all ages in St Michaels and All Angels, Sandhurst for many years.  Karen has conducted choirs in the Cathedrals of Westminster, Salisbury and Bristol and in St Mark’s Basilica in Venice, and her School Choir has performed a wide variety of choral music accompanied by a professional orchestra in the school chapel.

Karen sings with the Choir of the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst, but her tastes in music are varied. She has sung professionally, recording sound-tracks for films including ‘The Saint’ and ‘Stargate’ and backing tracks for Rock Bands, and she has enjoyed playing keyboard in a Swing Band and organising close harmony ensembles. She can also play ‘Take the ‘A’ Train’ on the swannee whistle.
